What Legal Review Means on This Site
Family Law in Ontario is managed by Ryan Manilla, a lawyer licensed by the Law Society of Ontario. This page explains, in plain language, what that involvement generally means for the content on this site — and, just as importantly, what it doesn't mean.
Guides on this site are researched and drafted to explain, generally, how family law works in Ontario, following the approach described in our Editorial Policy. Content is periodically reviewed for general legal accuracy — that is, whether a page's description of a legal concept, process, or test is a fair, current, plain-language summary — rather than reviewed as advice about any individual reader's situation.
What Legal Review Does Not Mean
Legal review of this site's general content does not mean that any specific page has been written for your situation, that a lawyer-client relationship exists between you and Ryan Manilla (or any other lawyer) simply by reading this site, or that any guide guarantees a particular outcome, deadline, or result. Family law depends heavily on individual facts, and general information — however carefully reviewed — cannot substitute for advice tailored to your circumstances.
If you need advice about your specific situation, the most reliable path is to speak with a lawyer directly — for example, through the free consultation form on this site, or another lawyer of your choosing.
How Often Content Is Reviewed
Ontario family-law procedures, government programs, and cited figures can change over time. Rather than promising a fixed review schedule, this site aims to review and update content periodically and whenever a meaningful change in the law or a linked official source is identified — including through reader-submitted corrections. See our Corrections Policy for how to flag something that looks outdated or inaccurate, and Sources and Citations for the primary sources our guides are generally based on.
Scope of Legal Review
Legal review on this site generally focuses on whether the general legal concepts, tests, and processes described are fairly and accurately summarized in plain language — not on proofreading every sentence for style, nor on verifying every external link remains live at every moment. If you notice something that seems legally inaccurate or out of date, please use the Corrections Policy page to let us know.
